The GM Iron Column Stove is one of the earliest column stoves ever manufactured, dating back to the early to mid 1800's. Understated in its design, the stove is an incredibly efficient heater. Loading doors are found on both sides of the stove - a very rare feature. Touches of relief work on the cast iron body display a picturesque woodland motif. A large hearth, removable cooklid, and a cleanout door are features that enhance the function and efficiency of this early American stove.
The arch of the columns on the Early Column Stove is a rather unique design style for Column stoves. Lovely floral filigree on the two columns adds charm to the distinctive arch shape. A large loading door on the side and a removable cooklid with a handle add ease and efficiency to this Colonial style stove’s many attributes.
The style is Colonial, traditional. The look is impressive. The cast iron body on the Early Column stove is covered with beautiful relief work. The top of the columns features lovely filigree. Even the four legs boast attractive detailings. Wood can be loaded from both a side door and a front door. A removeable front plate allows for easy cleanup of ashes. This stove is a charmer.

"Stove Black Richardson...knows more about old ranges and...old stoves than anyone I know...by a long shot...I would not buy an antique range...unless Richard…surveyed it and gave it an OK (Vivian, 221.)."
